Kiew's "Divergent" album release party in Hannover in "Labor" club on 22d of September impressions by Vitalliy "Stranger" Fedun photos from Kiew release party [visitors, DJ' Shadowdance, Kiew band] by Ilja and Julia>>
The party started in 21:00. I entered the Labor and found actually there only DJ's themselves cause it was too early. Alex of Shadowdance as usually generously helped journalists from gothic.com.ua to get in and i hope one day he would attend out goth festival in Ukraine..=) There were no people at that time in Labor and DJ's were just getting ready for party and playing different tunes in the key of Kiew - all the dark electronics. Then in about 15 min's Kiew appeared. Andreas was really nice to meet. Previously we tried to meet on Wave Gotik Treffen - 2001 but failed. As far as i understood there were also all other Kiew band members present on party. In some time people who were appealed by music started to come in club.
Meanwhile new album of Kiew - "Divergent" was played two times. People liked it very much and it looked like they wanted to hear it some more times. All tracks were pretty danceable and dances were going on all the night. After i waited for some time while Andreas from Kiew was Dj'ing a bit we had a short talk. I will actually retell just a short cut of our conversation - about general conception of album. Andreas explained that album could be figurably devided into two parts - light and dark. Light stands for the bright day time in Kiew and tells about nice living in one of the most beautiful cities of Europe. As a result music in this part is mostly dark electro or electro. Other part - dark one - tells its dark stories about the system, violance, ruling dinasty, night time, hidden sided, dark Kiew. When one hear it - it seems that this part gets you down with incredible power of emotions ranging from hate, desparation up to love...So this part can be figurably described as dark power electronics and follows as a logical continuation of previous album of Kiew - "Feuerabend in Kiew".
I only regreted that there was no live performance of Kiew, lets hope someday they will come to play in "fatherland" - Ukraine =). The prizes were won. The hang out was great. The DJ's Shadowdance were high. New Kiew album is perfect. That's it.... You should come to Labor to see that 'cause you know as Andrew Eldritch said "words are just dust". p.s. Just got news from the band - "Divergent" directly got position number 10 in DAC (German Alternative Charts). Kiew release party was completely
organized by very well known in Hannover goth/dark 
Around 23:00 the
party started to turn to that one as it is usual for regular Shadowdance goth parties in
Labor - there were neon lights crowling on the walls and dresses, chasing shadows
everywhere, glittering and dark erotic dancers on the dance floor - and of course
excellently suitable music - goth synth, dark wave, dark electro...And particular
atmosphere for sure. 
Thereafter
while Shadowdance pumped the audience with exciting and harsh beats of EBM/dark electro
Andreas announced the contest. Those who could answer the questions related to Kiew's
works would get the special prizes - new album "Divergent" CD or t-shirt with
Kiew logo. A really valuable stuff especially if you are originally coming from Kiew..=)
That was impossible for me to take part in a contest as a person close to the band. It was
a great pitty..=) The question to answer was : "What is the name of country the
city of Kiew is situated in?". You would laugh (possibly ironically) but some people
answered this question wrong way.. Most of them said of course "Ukraine"
and got their prizes, but some even said "Russia" =). That made me think about
band Kiew with a huge gratitude - Andreas and band Kiew get people familiar with Ukraine
and stimulates interest for our country.
